The Official Aysha

The Official Aysha

Here’s our interview with Aysha, a 22 year old woman living in New York City.  We were immediately intrigued by her calm nature.  It’s always interesting to meet people for the first time over zoom.  Here’s a glimpse into her.  As we do with all the women we’ve met, we feel like every time we talk to her, a new revelation about her comes into focus.

Where did you grow up?

I was born and raised in New York City, in a neighborhood called Inwood.

What inspired you growing up? What inspires you today?

Ever since I was a little girl I was always fascinated by the world of drama. I immersed myself in movies and TV shows; I was always fascinated and inspired by the people that could make these amazing stories come to life. This inspired me to pursue the art of acting and entertaining. Every step, every progression I make as an actress in perfecting my craft is a source of continuing inspiration for me that allows me to dream even bigger.

Did you always have the same path in mind or did you pivot at some point? If so why?

Around the time I was in middle school I thought I wanted to be a fashion designer. That quickly changed as soon as I joined the drama club upon entering high school. I think that was a pivotal moment in my life since that really made me realize that acting is the only thing I want to do. I cannot imagine doing anything else for a living even if it means having to figure out how to support myself doing other work.

What have you been doing to stay sane during COVID?

I’ve used this opportunity to re-establish healthy habits and really just have more time to dedicate to myself. I’ve been stretching every morning to relieve tension both physically and mentally, as well as taking time to organize my space. I strongly believe an organized space is an organized mind. I’ve been treating myself to home spa days and indulging in new skin care routines. I’ve also picked up an old hobby - video gaming. Which is boosting my mental and physical wellness. Some will think it’s odd to say that, but the truth is, it’s giving me confidence and focus. Stretching more often too, which is a tension reliever, taking more the time to organize my space.  This is what I’ve been doing to stay sane.

Have you recently picked up any hobbies or interests?

Growing up I used to love playing video games with my brothers. In the past few years, I haven’t had the time. Now with COVID keeping all of us indoors, I decided to give it a try again and I find myself playing pretty often now. It’s another way to destress after a long day, and my boyfriend couldn’t be happier now that I’m playing Call of Duty with him and his friends.

How would you best describe your personal style?

I am definitely a minimalist. I’d say pretty much my entire closet consists of black or dark gray clothing. During the day I like being comfortable yet stylish, so I’ll sport an athleisure look, and at night if I’m going out, I’ll put on some black jeans, a black top, and black boots. I love black :)

What does your hair say about you?

I love wearing my hair in a high sleek ponytail. What's great about this style is that it is very versatile and goes with any look. When I’m feeling adventurous I’ll wear my hair in loose waves - perfect for a night out or if you just want to add a little extra spice.

What was your experience like with the farrah?

I was very excited to use a rotating curling iron because it makes styling so much easier and saves me a lot of time doing my hair especially since I have thick hair. My first thoughts were “Wow, I never thought how much fun and easy styling your own hair can be.” I have to say I instantly fell in love with the product and its ability to curl my hair at the speed of light without any damage, tugging or knotting.

What do you look for in a styling tool?

When choosing a styling product I look for temperature control, size, handle style, and barrel/plate material.

Any beauty secrets you want to share?

I live on beauty secrets, my favorite one would be apple cider vinegar. It’s perfect for your skin, and comes with amazing health benefits since it’s so rich in amino acids, enzymes, and vitamins. I love taking shots of it every morning as well as adding it to my tea. Best of all, it’s completely natural.

What are your hopes for the future?

I hope I am able to continue pursuing my passion and achieve more success doing what I love through acting and modeling.

What's the biggest lesson you have learned so far?

Don’t let anyone stop you from doing what you love.

Any advice to share about anything

When it comes to your craft, whatever it may be, I’ve learned first hand that consistency, passion and patience usually lead to great things.
